The Africa - European Union Renewable Energies Cooperation Programme, launched in Vienna in September 2010, is one element of the energy partnership between the African continent and the European Union.
This partnership creates a space for discussion, dialogue and opportunity between African countries and the EU and seeks to mobilise financial, technical and human resources to support energy development in Africa. Within this framework, a number of activities have been launched by the French Development Agency (AFD) including a study on structuring wind power projects in Africa, awarded to the consortium of Nodalis Conseil and Equitao in February 2012. The aim of this study is to identify the factors behind the success of wind power projects, or the reasons their failure, taking into account the national contexts in which they are developped.
